GENERAL TIPS

- Use plenty of packing paper and pad the top and bottom of each box well.
- Wrap individual pieces in packing paper (avoid using newspaper).
- Use the “layering” method by separating layers with thick packing paper.
- Fill each box completely before starting another.
- Ensure all items are secure and cannot move inside the box.

PICTURES & GLASS PIECES
- Use a standard picture box and cover the sides with packing paper.
- Place packing paper along the sides and edges of pictures to prevent shifting.
- Limit to no more than two pictures per box.
- Keep the box upright at all times.
BOOKS
- Use small book boxes (industry standard: 18″ x 12″).
- Reinforce the bottom of each box.
- Avoid packing books so heavily that the cardboard tears or bends.

CLOTHING
- Use wardrobe boxes for hanging clothes, or request rod strap transfers.
- If moving into storage, wardrobe boxes may not be necessary.
- Place shoes or bedding at the bottom of wardrobe boxes.
- Use linen boxes for all other clothes.
ELECTRONICS
- Pack TVs, stereo components, computers, microwaves, etc. in their original boxes, if available.
- If original boxes aren’t available, wrap electronics in heavy moving pads.
- Label all boxes “FRAGILE” when applicable.
